Lines of Research
With a single area of concentration, the Program develops teaching and research activities associated with four main lines of research, namely:
1) Language Acquisition, Development and Processing:
Study of language acquisition, development and processing; investigation of the processes of comprehension and production of speech and writing in their linguistic and cognitive aspects.
2) Linguistic Analysis and Description:
Study of questions and problems of a phonological, morphological, morphosyntactic, lexicological, lexicographical, syntactic-semantic and pragmatic-discursive nature, based on oral corpora and written in Portuguese language.
3) Discursive Practices and Textualization Strategies:
A study of the relations between language categories and discourse categories in use situations, from the enunciating, organizational and socio-interational approaches, dealing, particularly, with argumentativeness, reference processes, textual typologies and discursive practices of institutional character.
4) Applied Linguistics:
Application of the results of the research developed by the different linguistic disciplines to solve problems related to the production, perception, acquisition or computational processing of natural language, teaching / learning languages and the elaboration of dictionaries, glossaries and pedagogic grammars.
